Curtains For Your House, Mouse and Spouse- Different Curtains For Different Rooms

A flimsy sheet of thin cloth covering your window. A heavy bundle of an unattractive blanket- like expanse for your kitchen. Bedroom curtains that hardly cover half of your wall.

The imagery isn’t half as disturbing as the reality of it. Let’s face it, not everything looks good everywhere. It is perfectly possible that an expensive piece of net curtain made from the richest fabric can look awful just because its placement is incorrect. It makes the room look impractical and your efforts – fruitless. It is only imperative that you need to know what to use and where.

We’ll start by talking about your living room because this is where you meet and greet people. Know that the curtains in your living room make the first impression. Do not cut corners when you make your choices for this very reason. Consider the size of the hall. Muted colours make your living room seem larger and airy. They make the space look cosy. Tassels and tiebacks are wonderful accessories that will make everyone notice your curtains. Remember that it is important to blend the curtains into the look of the rest of your room and still make them stand out. Striking that artistic balance is crucial.

Bedroom curtains can be a little more personalised. Considering the fact that your bedroom is where you spend most of your good time at home, the choice of curtains should be nothing short of perfect. Privacy is of nagging importance here and so is attractiveness. There are box curtains, sheer curtains, linen curtains and a lot of other options. While box curtains will give you privacy and delicate looks, sheer curtains will ensure that plenty of light comes into your room. You can use sheer curtains with another layer of a simple linen curtain to protect privacy. Linen curtains are eye catching and even soundproof! Great for people who like to keep their personal life, well... personal.

Dining rooms and kitchens need curtains that are convenient. You don’t want anything too frilly or flamboyant especially if your windows are located above the cooking area. They can easily catch fire. Kitchens should be well ventilated and there needs to be a lot of light. Avoid anything too heavy. Layered curtains are perfect because you can play with colours and cover your windows to an extent that you get just the right amount of air. Nothing like curtains that are smooth with a couple of tiebacks to give your kitchen or/and dining room a relaxed look.

For other rooms like your study, use curtains that will make you feel like it is YOUR space. Anything goes as long as it is in sync with your gear and flooring. If you use this space as an office, you can opt for formal looks by using plain voile curtains with metallic poles. Printed designs can also look great and give you a feel of a not too serious atmosphere that relieves your stress.

If your home has windows that are small, work around them! You can still use full length curtains and cut them in a way that you can leave the desired space open, when needed. After all, curtains are veils and they hide things you don’t want anyone to see. If your wall has defects, if your window is inappropriately shaped or if you just don’t want a portion of a wall to be shown, use a curtain! Don’t hesitate to get innovative and spruce up your room’s appearance.

Curtains are only as good as their locations and placing. You have to literally – hit the spot!
